Call for fellowships to attend African Investigative Journalism Conference

The African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) offers a limited number of fellowships for participation in this three-day celebration of the continent’s investigative reporting. This year the conference will run from Monday 20 November to Wednesday 22 November 2023 in Johannesburg.

The conference offers inspiring talks, engagement, networking, and cutting-edge training in a range of skills.

AIJC is organised by the Wits Centre for Journalism at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.

Cost Covered
  • The scholarship covers flights to Johannesburg, airport transfers, single room accommodation, shuttles to the conference site, meals and conference fees.
  • It does not cover home country transportation, visa fees, travel/medical insurance, personal transportation within South Africa and hotel incidentals.
Criteria
  • The conference will be in English and French.
  • Fellowships are open to journalists with a proven track record in investigative journalism and at least three years’ experience.
  • Fellows will be asked to produce at least one piece of content arising out of the conference.
  • You will require a passport valid for a minimum of six months after the conference and with at least one clean page and would need to be available to travel.
